The Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course four hours and includes classroom and range time, learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; cleaning the pistol; and an overview of Maryland firearms law.
Students will receive handouts and a course completion certificate.

The class is held at the DPS Training Classroom in La Plata, MD at 10 AM. The "live fire" activity is at Fred's Sporting Goods in Waldorf, MD.
